Probably a stupid question but..... I am looking to buy a new build property and the downstairs cloakroom is directly off the kitchen. Somewhere in the back of my mind I thought there had to be two doors between these two rooms. Is this correct? If any of my fellow Answerbankers don´t know can you please point me in the right direction for advise. Many thanks

There has to be 'purge' ventilation...an extract fan in the Loo and that eliminated the need for the 2-door rule.
I find it hard to believe that the loo is directly off the kitchen! Talk about back to the bad times!
i wouldn't be happy with just an extractor fan, i'd want it soundproofing as well
^^^^I agree....the noise of all those utensils, stir-frying, pressure cookers etc. would be most annoying!
We have a downstairs toilet that is just off the kitchen - but there are two doors between, one from the kitchen and one into the toilet. It's an old house though - not sure what the regulations are now
The 2 door rule no longer applies, it's fine as long as you're happy with it.
My friend bought a newbuild house around 5 years ago and to me the loo was actually IN the kitchen- so it must be "ok"....

She knocked the wall down completely and made it a dining area.... X
My friend's 6 year old house has the downstairs loo in a cupboard directly off the living room. I kid you not. You have to turn the tv up to mask the sounds :(

As already said, the two door rule no longer applies
