My dad has type 2 diabetes and has no feeling in his feet. He has asked me to take my foot spa to his home, thinking that a good old foot soak will help to restore some feeling.
My foot spa has a vibrate mode on it and has instructions about not using the vibrate mode for more than twenty minutes.
Would it be ok for him to use, providing he doesn't put it on vibrate? Would the vibrate mode harm him?
Minty, the G.P visited him on Wednesday. More antibiotics for a chest infection. I'm not sure about medication for his diabetes. He takes so many tablets.
A chiropodist visits every month to cut his nails.
Thank you, Sqad. I thought the vibrate option might do some harm.
I'll take the spa over today.
encourage him to move more tilly..I bought dad one of those pedal machines to use whilst sitting to help with his circulation to the feet..this is a common problem with diabetes ..
Tilly.....as long as the vibrator does rub against his skin, it should be no problem, as my idea was that it was just to "froth up the water and make bubbles"....;-)
He does walk about his home, using his walking frame but does spend a long time sitting. I'll get a pedal thing for him but I know he will say it makes his knees ache. Thanks for the suggestion, Minty.
dad's podiatrist ..who specialised in diabetes,..said it was the best ever for his condition and he urged all his patients to get one...you can get them quite inexpensively from AMAZON ...
That's what it does, Sqad. It makes bubbles. If I put it on the highest setting, it makes my teeth rattle........and I have all my own teeth. Dad would probably swallow his dentures.:-)
yeah I got a vinc neuropathy ( the long word ) and the only thing that I er did wrong was not clear up broken glass and step on it
and walk a mile without socks
I get mine mainly at night. I tend to use heat to relieve it, either socks, microwavable slippers, or hot water bottle. Long term, best to keep sugar intake as low as you can. Incidentally, I did have one of those pedal jobs, but found them useless as they moved too much.
