Surely the ballistics report will prove the copper right or wrong. I would certainly shoot rather than take a baseball bat to the head, resulting in death, if not brain damage!
However, if you cannot deal with the aftermath of pulling the trigger, then don't choose a career that requires you to carry the gun!
