I have a king sized bed and am ordering a throw for the above bed - I do not want the throw to be trailing on the ground - would I be better ordering double sized as I never send anything back. Thanks for any advice.

Can you find out the size before you order and then get an idea of what it will be like on your bed?
It depends on the height of your bed.

height of bed quite high - will measure tomorrow morning

Just found a ruler there - height including mattress to floor is 2 feet.

^^^^top of mattress
so the throw should tell you the size in cm or inches as well as saying just king sized or whatever
It's not just the height though, is it. Find the measurements of the throw you're considering and see how much that'd droop over the edges of your bed. (General sizes such as "double" don't really give sufficient information.)
All well thx wbm birds are singing away instead of squacking lol. spring must be in the air .
jenny you need to measure the width, height and length of the bed to give you a good idea of what you want.
Sorry don't know how I landed up on here with my reply
^agree. Throws usually just give dimensions - people put them on beds, sofas, all sorts. I thought it was specifically bedspreads that would come in bed sizes like double, King etc
I agree Prudie.
even bedspreads vary (only by inches but they vary) and should give dimensions as well as a generic title
Can't you just get a sheet and put it on the bed the same way you would put the throw, and then measure the sheet, adding on any extra needed, or subtracting any surplus ? The supplier must give the finished measurements of the throws they sell - centimetres or inches, or both.
