Alternatively, ITV might simply not have enough money to buy the broadcast rights to the films. ITV's income has fallen, in real terms, by over 90% since its heyday, due to a vast increase in the number of broadcasters (who all have to fight for a share of the available advertising revenue) and many advertisers deserting TV stations in order to promote their products and services via social media. ITV struggles to survive at all, so the station certainly won't be buying in many blockbuster movies in future.
