Well....what did he expect !

Even if she did look like a bag lady, and she came pretty close to looking like one to me, perhaps Fry shouldn't have been surprised now that the sticky stuff has hit the fan !

jno....I am sure I heard some titters immediately after he made the remark, but I may have been wrong.
As it seems he knows her well I can't see the problem. Another case of being offended on someone else's behalf.
I'm sure he had friends there, mikey. Equally, I'm sure some found it funny. As far as I'm concerned he can say what he likes, but he needs to stop whining when not everyone adores every word he utters.

I have a feeling he's flounced off Twitter before but I may be wrong, I don't keep track.
I think he's being a bit 'precious'.
Twice before, jno.
He's probably just a bit uptight......comes with being Stephen Fry.....all he needs is a cool flannel on his forehead......an all over firm body massage (have I mentioned I'm a trained masseuse?)......some cold fizz, scented candles and soft music.......♥

^Several times. I'm offended on behalf of bag ladies.
The night is young, Dive.......☺
Guess always the optimist!
^ gness
Never know til you've smiled and tried, Gav.....☺
It was ironic that the award was for best costume designer etc Stephen just said what we all thought, everyone else made an effort!
//The lefties are tearing themselves apart. In the last few weeks they have monstered their very own doyens of Liberal fanaticism, Meryl Streep, Germaine Greer, Peter Tatchell,. They have all been trolled and howled at by the baying pack. The leftie thought police are doing a pretty good imitation of Erysichthon of Thessaly and devouring themselves. //

I posted this earlier today on a different thread. It serves here too.
Even Fry tweeted 'She's a dear friend. Will all you sanctimonious ****ers **** the **** off.
One bag lady criticising another
Nothing unusual - he's always throwing his toys out of the pram.

So what if she was a friend - so were the folks he let down when he fled a London play.

Thinks far too much of himself.
Think to little of himself!
well what do you expect him to do ?

tear off his shirt and show us his tots ? but surely Marie Jackson has done that already
I mentioned this on another thread yesterday. I thought it was rather a rude thing to say, and I felt the audience thought the same. There were audible "ooh"s and gasps.
I didn't know she was a friend of his, so maybe it's ok, I don't know. Has the woman herself complained?
Having just watched his moving programme about bipolar disorder, I have every sympathy with him supposedly "throwing his toys out of the pram".
I'm not saying that his "bag lady" remark is excused by his illness, but his previous behaviour is.
