Were the viewers wrong to condemn this contestant for taking the minus offer?

Normally in some cases I would agree with them, but in this case no, she was playing tactfully.

Yes it did take £7,000 off her sole team mate's potential £33,000, but it gave her the chance to get back and join her team mate and to join in the chance for both of them to win half the £26,000 remaining, and although they were unsuccessful she was the one who answered the most questions correctly.

The viewers were wrong in my opinion. Rules weren't broken and the 25k was still a decent amount which I'm sure the team would have taken before the game was played.

No, they were correct.
She got a £6k Cashbuilder round and on that basis should have been capable of playing for that amount against the Chaser.
If I had been her teammate I would have been extremely annoyed with her taking £7k off the total.

'There is no I in team'
The chasers have all been in excellent form lately and even the guy the other day scored 17 on his own and was still well beaten. He could have done with some help. It's ok having a good amount, but you need to defend it....
I watched that episode and was shocked - totally agree with divebuddy. Not the done thing.
Bradley Walsh: "[other contestant], are you happy with the minus [offer]?"
Other contestant: "Yep go for it".

OK, sure he might not have felt able to say anything more negative, but on the other hand I'd say that his opinion matters most. Seems he was OK with it (might not have been if, when it came to the final round, they had won and he'd been the one answering questions). And that ought to be an end of the matter.
There was a woman once went for minus £13000.

Well he would say that wouldn't he as it was on TV?
Is it just as selfish to go for a bigger amount and lose thus depriving other team members of their presence in the final?
I would never take the minus offer no matter how much was in the kitty, being honest I wouldn't take the high offer either but certainly wouldn't take from previous contestants amount even if I were knowledgeable about subjects that they may not know.
BALDRIC, there is no "I" in "team" but there is an "m" and an "e"...
I can't see what's tactful about taking the minus offer.
(I think he meant tactical)
Canary - //I can't see what's tactful about taking the minus offer. //

We try not to pick each other up on typos, or occasional misuse of words, it gets petty, and it doesn't help, so don't be mischievous.
Yes, maybe Baldric, or maybe he felt it was more important to have a teammate to help him win any money at all than to have an increased theoretical cash prize that he still might not have won anyway.

Regardless, some of the comments about the woman are incredibly harsh. You might not like the decision, but it was there to make. (Also, in point of fact, even the middle offer would have had the effect of reducing the order guy's potential winnings, from £33,000 to £19,500.) Myself, I remain irritated that the negative cash offer is even an option open to the Chaser anyway.
I don't watch this programme but I believe it's a "game show" ie light entertainment. Why is everybody taking it so seriously?

The question raised in the OP may explain

///Were the viewers wrong to condemn this contestant for taking the minus offer?
Normally in some cases I would agree with them, but in this case no, she was playing tactfully///
Didn't watch it, but it's a team game and each makes their own decisions and that's fine. If the players don't like it let them apply for a different gameshow. If the viewers don't like it let them watch a different channel.
And if the papers have little to print let them highlight this nonsense to fill pages.
