I live very near one the other villages mentioned in the report. While ours isn't quite that slow, it's not great, and often drops off altogether for no reason.

When we first moved to Wales 3 years ago we had less than 2Mbps, so under a government scheme running in Wales at the time they gave us satellite broadband free of charge. It normally costs about £750.

It worked well.

My sister down on the Fal only gets 1MB at best - thought there is talk of upgrading them to fibre. or me, its 7 to 9 MB down 2.5 miles of copper wire from the local exchange, so that's not bad, the main problem being an old wire and strong westerlies or easterlies snapping the plates or bringing the line down. Half of it has just been replaced.
