Had Mr Fabricant not offered up an apology it appears Mr Bercow would have let it go!

Was it inappropriate ? Passionate, and perhaps not very persuasive, but some subjects result in high emotion especially when one believes an opponent is lying and one has no opportunity to state that opinion directly. If Mr Speaker hears un-parliamentary language from where he sits, then other Honourable Members of the House, and the TV microphones hear it as well.
The idea of 'not drawing attention to it ...' is ludicrous, that is what Mr Speaker is there for!!
