Can anyone please help me as to where I can obtain a bitter marmalade. All the brands I have purchased recently even with grocer's recommendations have been far too much on the sweet side. Marmalade eaten in the morning should have that bitter edge for my palate but also for my waistline.

I would obviously like a suggestion of one I can find in my neck of the woods in Lancashire and although Aunt Agatha's in Chipping Norton available every January at the Village Hall may be wonderful stuff it won't really help my cause.

You could make your own using a kit in a tin - they sell it in Tesco - then you could adjust the sugar to make it bitter.
Tiptree do a Bitter Orange marmalade which I like and Duerrs do the same. Sainsburys do a thick cut own brand marmalade which is quite sharp. I also found a really good one in a National Trust shop if there are any close to you
Don't know if it would be bitter enough for you but Duerrs do a half sugar marmalade and Sainsburys do a reduced sugar one (30% less sugar than its standard marmalade it says on the label).
Doesn't proper marmalade need the right amount of sugar to turn out right. Reducing the amount of sugar isn't going to make it more "bitter"...that's down to the right parts of the correct (Seville) oranges.
Have you thought of a jar of roses lime marmalade, or robertsons silver shred marmalades? Id imagine both of these taste less sweet.? Woth a try!
Sorry...but Rose's lime marmalade is the sweetest of the lot. You start the jar thinking "this is nice" but after a short while it's "yuk! throw it away".
Definitely make your own from the correct i.e. Seville oranges. You can't reduce the amount of sugar in a recipe or it won't be marmalade at all.
I also like the Sainsburys Marmalade. It is the cheaper range "Basics" and it is quite bitter. Also Golden Shred Marmalade.
