Gift ideas for a new baby

Hi � my sister is pregnant with her first baby and I am basically looking into the type of gift I can give when the baby is born.

Does anyone have any ideas for a different and cool type of present? I have just looked on a previous post and someone suggest giving someone a time capsule � I liked that idea and just wondered if anyone had any ideas (I am not very up on new babies etc).

Also, does anyone know any financial type presents that I could give a new baby � that is a bit different too.

for a Christening pressie for my friends baby i got a 'terramundi Money pot' . it's a kind of saving jar, but it gives you a little wish slip you can complete and put into the jar...and you can get it personalised. It seemed a very popular gift! You can see for yourself at www.terramundi.co.uk

also, for another friend i got (organic) massage and bath oils for baby and mum - again seemed to go down well.

As for the time capsule - maybe put in a copy of a couple of newspapers, couple of magazines, showing tv or fashion, photos, maybe a copy of the top 5 or top 10 tunes in the chart on the day baby was born.

and maybe a letter written to baby from you - i think it would be amazing that in 18+ years your niece could read a letter to her that you wrote before or jusr after she was born

as for financial pressie - i know they're hardly 'a bit different' but Premium Bonds are a good idea - and very easy to buy at the Post Office (minimum investment �100, but then you can add to them when ever you like, and they go into a monthly draw to win various cash prizes.)

Ooooh forgot! Have you seen Spaceform glass tokens? They are really nice - glass tokens with different messages engraved. Look at www.boxtreegallery.co.uk - they have a really wide choice and some of them are currently reduced!

When my friend had a baby I made a goody basket for the baby and one for her - lots of really nice products (Sanctuary etc)

I think Premium Bonds are a good idea - you often see people with minimum investments win the big prizes - lucky baby!!
