Click on the 'burger' menu top right of Chrome, click Settings Scroll down, click Advanced Settings - Language and Input - English (United Kingdom) then tick the box - use this language for spell checking
Where are you seeing US spellings? For example, if you encountered them on AB while using Firefox it would be Firefox's dictionary that needed changing, rather than to do with any version of Windows.
So is it in Word, Edge, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome or somewhere else?
PS:
I don't use Chrome but it's possible that you can also change languages the same way that you can in Firefox, where you simply right-click on a word underlined in red and go to 'Languages'. (I've no idea whether that works in Chrome or not but it might be worth taking a look).
Just had a look at W10, select 'settings', the in 'find a setting' enter 'spell check' and select, then you get a choice of 'edit language and keyboard options' you can then select 'English US' or 'English UK'
Good Luck.
