He hosted a record request programme, Two-Way Family Favourites, for service people and their families on a Sunday morning and later went into television. At 96 he had a good innings.
Links to Akrotiri, Munster(in Germany), Belize and Hong Kong are some I remember. And many of the messages had a similar theme, conscripts ticking off the days 'til they'd go home.
I met him and his wife Jean way back in the late 80s in Combe Martin Devon. They were on holiday there and were just so very nice to talk to, easy going , friendly. I liked them both.
