ok so after 1000s of years they are now saying that men and women have the same capacity......or this is complete and utter cobblers. The old level was cobblers, the new level is clearly some sort of PC imposition.

They read my notes which stated ,truthfully,I drank 70 units a week. Amongst all the other medications they kept offering me alcohol suppressant tablets during the drug round. They couldn't understand that after a rugby match against St Mary's doctors 40 years ago they would drink us under the table.
Talk about change in attitudes.

The NHS is getting uptight about alcohol. About a year or two ago I went to the hospital about a muscular issue, and whilst there was asked to fill out a form about my drinking habits. Thought it weird but as a helpful guy I filled it out honestly indicating how little I drank.
Next visit I was insulted by being given a leaflet on how to control my drinking as, apparently, a couple of pints or the equivalent each Saturday is an excuse to ruin patient/hospital relationships. I was never in a friendly mood to the person who insulted me so after that, and the leaflet got ripped up and put in the bin the moment I got home. Afterwards I could have kicked myself that I didn't rip it up the moment I was given it.
How $%"$£^" well dare they ! I know next time they try that I'll be putting down 3 litres of spirits and a dozen pints a day for them to chew on.

Surely the notion of a standardisation is utterly futile, because there is nothing standard about the human body.
I have not drunk alcohol since 1975, so a pint of strong lager would render me incapable of walking upright, much less driving safely, but a regular drinker may be perfectly OK to drive safely.
That is why I believe that zero tolerance sets the level, and everyone knows where they are - but that will never ever happen.
