A question of sheep

I drive home through some very nice country side after picking up sprog from school.I noticed black and white sheep in the fields and wondered is the wool from black sheep is hard to dye that the wool from white sheep.

Might be obviuos but the coulr of the fleece affects the final dye. Grey fleece dyed blue will be a different shade to a white fleece. Different mordants as they are called to fix the dye will also give varying results for coloured fleece.


Coloured fleeces like a brown will generally be used for brown/beige/fawn end colours anyway as greens reds and blues will not lookthe same if the fleece is coloured to start with.


Coloured fleeces are no different in preperation to white.
