like an idiot i typed a long letter out, and forgot to save it, is there any way i can get it back from my pc?

Microsoft Word ?
On your Menu bar, Select Tools, then Options and click on the Save tab.
Is "Save Autorecover Info " ticked? If it is, then you might be lucky. Will prob be set at 10mins, so if you took more than 10 mins on your letter, then part of it at least will be saved - probably in your My Documents folder. Look at all the doc files in this folder created on the day you wrote your letter. Good luck !
