How Do I Clear Storage On My Ipad 2?
10 Answers
Sorry to bother you. I love my iPad but I'm not very techno. I have messages saying my storage is nearly full. Have deleted all non essential apps. I have iPad storage switched on and don't know whether that affects it. This morning it won't let me take a photo because storage is full ☹️. Could someone help me? Bear in mind you'll need to give me very basic advice as I said, not very up with technology. Thanks in advance for any advice x

First things first. When you upgrade your iPad you should always do it via iTunes on your PC or Laptop. That way the upgrade software is stored on your PC or Laptop and not on you iPad, saving space. The only way I know to save space on your iPad is to delete apps, music, photos, emails and message etc.

Aha! Progress, thank you Haggis. Much appreciated
Regretfully, although I have a laptop I have not heard about connecting device to it to do updates etc. Bit beyond me but my daughter should be coming to visit this weekend so might understand. Will have a go at deleting more emails and messages as you suggest first to see if it clears enough space for me to take photographs which is my main way of communicating news with friends.
Hope this helps you too Horseshoes

Syncing to a laptop is not that difficult. Go to the Apple web site and download iTunes and follow the on-screen steps. When yo plug you iPad in via the USB cable iTunes will 'see' it and start the progress.
This means that you can backup photgraphs onto your laptop then delete them from your iPad without losing them.

Dropbox is a good app for storing photos so they don't use all your storage on your iPad. You can download it for free from Apple Apps and if you need more storage, you can buy extra.
I've had my iPad do three years and have Just decided to get more storage, now. It can also be linked to your phone and laptop.

Photos and music take up most space so use Dropbox which has already been suggested. You also get 5gb of iCloud storage free so put other things in there. If you have lots of music you can put this into iTunes Match for £20 per year and the music is not stored on the iPad and so frees up space. I haven't connected my iPad to a computer for about 3 years and it has updated fine. If you have lots of emails stored delete these by accessing your account via safari.
