For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.i used to get beasties in my guinea pigs cage...best thing to do; give the cage a good scrub down with boiling water and a cleaner thats safe to use in pet's hutches, then if it isnt already, elevate the cage on legs above the ground, this will prevent most pests getting in. once elevated, sprinkle ant killer around the legs to stop them crawling up from the bottom, it wouldnt be wise to put ant killer in with the pigs because its extremely toxic. keep the ant killer topped up because it will get washed away, and use it elsewhere in your garden where ants are a problem to reduce their numbers overall

Clean out as above - ants use scent to track each others movements so remove the trace.
Wipe a vinegar round the area the tray stands in - keeps ants away. See number 8 in info at: http://frugalliving.about.com/cs/tips/a/blvinmisc.htm
You can use a vinegar solution in thetrya as well by the way which will be completely safe for the 'pigs.
