Wifey has a 2002 later model 1.3 finesse. Recently it started chugging when accelerating after a gear change it got so bad the engine management light came on so I changed the spark plugs and eliminated 99% of the chugging but the pesky car has started to chug again. A local mechanic said to change the plug leads at 50 (ford) but happened to be in Ford getting a key cut and they said they had replaced the coil pack (70 ford) more often. It doesn't seem like it is running off a cylinder just chugging - any ideas ?

It has a dualtec engine.
