Salesman..............
A Bible distribution company had just opened up a new office, and they were having a tough time selling Bibles door to door. Their biggest problem seemed to be that there wasn’t anyone willing to do the work. Things were looking pretty grim, and the manager thought he might have to close the office if sales didn’t improve.
One day, when the manager had just about reached the end of his rope, a man walked in and pulled the “Help Wanted” sign off the door. He carried it up to the manager and stuttered out, “I’d luh… luh… luh… like to app… app… apply for the juh… juh… juh… juh… job!”
The manager had been elated that someone finally was willing to work for him, but his hopes crashed down just as quickly. After all, who would buy Bibles from a guy who took five minutes to complete a simple sentence? Still… no one else was applying, and the manager figured it couldn’t hurt anything.
“Okay,” he said. “When can you start?”
“Ruh… ruh… ruh… right awuh… awuh… away,” said the man.
“That sounds great,” said the manager. “We just need you to fill out this paperwork, and you can get started.”
Soon afterward, the manager’s new employee was on his way out into the neighborhood to try his hand at sales. At the end of the day, he returned to the office.
“Well, how’d it go?” asked the manager.
“Nuh… nuh… nuh… not too buh… buh… bad, I guess,” said the man. “I ssss… ssss… sssold 67 Bibles.”
“WHAT???” exclaimed the shocked manager. “You sold 67 Bibles in ONE DAY??? How on earth did you manage that?”
“Wuh… wuh… wuh… well,” said the man, “I juh… juh… just went up to the duh… duh… duh… door and asked, ‘Wuh… wuh… wuh… would you luh… luh… luh… like to buh… buh… buh… buy this Buh… Buh… Buh… Bible, or would you ruh… ruh… ruh… rather I ruh… ruh… ruh… read it to you?”
