We were taught in biology (many years ago in school) that it is more hygenic to have the loose end away from the wall, as it saves transferring bacteria from your hand to the wall and back again when scabbling for the end of the toilet paper
Well...... The posh way is loose end furthest from the wall (with a neat little turn up if you want to go that one step further) this way you are not accidently touching other sheets that someone else will be using later. However, if you have kids it should be closest to the wall so that when the little darlings spin the loo roll (invariably a downward motion) then its just gaily goes round and round and doesn't unravel, which it would do if it was loose end. Unless of course you use Isel flat pack shiney paper that hurts!!
I prefer my end (of paper.lol) away from the wall. I annoy everyone else, family and friends and possibly even strangers, by turning everyone elses toilet paper around, whether they like it or not. I mostly do it at my mothers as her partner(who is in his late 70s) prefers his end to the wall.lol.;-)
I have to have loose end away from the wall and if anyone changes the roll and puts it the wrong way round I have to change it.And like cook1254 I change other peoples. Sad I know!
It will bring harmony, order/balance and influance good fortune into your life if you install it away from the wall so that when you pull it, the roll turns clock-wise. for the Antipodes it must be placed close to the wall.
