Hedgehog

Last evening, I took this photo of a young hedgehog enjoying a meal of Sainsbury's Meaty Loaf dog food on the patio. The weather is so mild, so it's still active and hasn't hibernated yet!

Very cute. You ought to post this in the Early Birds thread too, Waterboatman has a resident hedgehog called Tiggy but he has already hibernated.

Aww, It looks happy enough, hopefully after your nice dinner, he'll find somewhere to curl up and snooze :-)

'Twas the dog that sniffed out the hedgehog! We've been feeding what I presume to be one of the parents of this one for a couple of months.

Thanks, divebuddy; I will investigate "Autumn Juveniles". Frost forecast later next week, so hibernation might be on the cards. I've been feeding a large adult for the past couple of months; maybe the one pictured is an offspring thereof.

Looks like the young 'un survived the Winter - it was seen last evening foraging under the bird feeders (bits of suet, or maybe slugs/snails)). Back to putting out some dog food each evening!
