Is there any guarantee that if Britex happened our farmers wouldn't be reduced to penury?

The fact that it would be insane for a government to allow it.
Of course the correct action is to ensure producers are paid a fair price for their goods.
Is this the same eu that also pays farmers not to grow crops ?
Remember the butter mountains and the milk lakes?
It should be a matter for the British Government.

Exactly. That is why we suddenly saw thousands of fields growing rapeseed because the EU told farmers they couldn't grow useful cereal crops.

Surely you meant French farmers get decent subsidies. Whilst true our farmers also receive some the french are totally propped up by it.

And yes, we will be annihilated if we stay now after having dared hold a referendum.
As I have just said on another thread. Guess who is one of the biggest UK benefactors of the EU farming subsidy?
Yes, none other than the chief Editor of the Daily Mail who got over £88,000 last year !
The sunflower fields of the Poitou-Charentes have all but disappeared. The tourists come to see them and I had to drive around to find some in the last few years. Reason: bigger subsidies on rapeseed. A great shame.

Our government, presumably, pay our farmers subsidies out of the money that they will not be giving to EU. It would be insane not to, but we could gradually direct it better, perhaps, to farming which suits us better.
