What is Ear Candling?

A shop near where i live is offering Ear Candling as a service, what is it?

I have had this done at a salon, it was quite expensive, about �35 I think. I enjoyed it but could'nt really justify spending that amount of money again. I bought some hopi candles and followed the instructions to the letter, as you are dealing with a flame near your hair which can be scary to say the least, but the candles have a line printed on them which you burn down to, well away from the ear. My hubby did it for me and I told him how to do the massaging bit I remembered from my salon treatment, it was very pleasant.
