Glad to have been of help for once. I can't think of any helpful pirate names, but I think I've seen somewhere a clue reading 'about the queen'.

Thanks Tommo, I know quite often when a clue mentions the Queen part of the answer is usually "ER" but the pirate part of the clue has got me beat.

i did the same; hook, smee, kidd etc - tried every anagram combined with E.R.
