Hi Sqad - if you are on tonight or in the morning.

You may have read that the authorities have offered me a new shoulder etc which of course I could not go through. They did say that even getting a new shoulder would only eliminate a "little" pain but no more extra movement.

That was in November last year - alas, pain has become really bad these past few weeks - quite unbearable but has to be "bearable".

I am taking painkillers (not being to the drs tho).

I have made arrangements for this "flotatation" on water for Thursday and I will go for it - even for painrelief.

Can you advise anything more I could do - Ibrufen do no seem to work.

thanks for your answer.

Jenny...im no sqad....just wondering if you are taking any other painkillers except brufen xx
Before i can answer fully.....could you tell me what dose of Ibuprofen you are taking and how often?
Question Author
have to confess don't take them regularly but 3x200mgs a day am afraid of stomach problems
That is 600mgms in one dose once a day?
If taken with meals you can take that dose three times a day.

Why are you scared of "stomach problems?"
Question Author
just reading of other people's reactrions to them - so I am allowed 1800 mgs - seems a lot to me
Question Author
someonce told me they "burn a hole in your stomach"

The feeling is I would love somebody to "nick" under my arm and release the pain plus the pain is running up back of shoulder into neck.

If I paid for cortisone injection would it help
Have you asked your doc about cortisone injections and whether it would help?
Question Author
he gave me one cortisone injection about 2 years ago but never felt they worked
The choice is yours.......a balance between pain relief and the outside chance of drugs side effects which all drugs have.

You could take tinkerbell@s advice and take Ibuprofen intermittently with Paracetamol.

The dose and frequency of a pain killer depends upon the response....the lowest dose that eases the pain is the correct dose.

Your decision.

other that - then getting the oul arm chopped off yuck. thanks for answers sqad
I think you should ask your GP for something like omeprazole to take with your regular brufen....omeprazole will help protect your stomach, and personally id take paracet like sqad suggests or even cocodamol with the brufen....

Take care xx
Jennyjoan I don't know why you couldn't go through surgery for your shoulder?

What I do know is I had both shoulder total replacements, first 14 ago second 12 years ago, that are 100% successful.

The pain was excruciating previously and I rate it one of the best things I ever did to get rid of the gnawing pain 24/7.

I'd recommend anyone who is able to get it done asap.

bless you cupotee - may have to go down that route - i am trying to see how hard my pain threshold is before i go down the route.

one cousin of mine got two shoulders done but they were not successful.

Allso i live on my own and am afraid of being incapacitated with the use of one arm. your advice is very welcoming.
Question Author
the powers to be (doing the shoulder) told me that getting a new shoulder would only eliminate a little pain but would never allow me to allow to extend my arm fully - so ?????
Question Author
cupotee were you left like a long winded band - also who to be personal - who cleaned you poos - they are they things I would worry about. I can dry myself off in a hanky - no big towels for me as they are too weighty.
JJ you are the only person I have ever come across that needs two hands to wipe their backside.

Get over yourself and either get yourself fixed or stop bleating about the discomfort you are in.
eccles..bit harsh ! some folks need a hand to hold on and steady themselves while they do the business....
Yes, a bit harsh, but JJ has a long track record of complaining about health issues and doing beggar all to resolve them and following medical advice.

well well well - couldn't sleep for love nor money with the excruciating pain in my left shoulder - truly unbearable.

Took myself of to A&E and was there about 6am. Seen a doctor who said from the x-rays that shoulder is very arthritic and so he did NOT think it was a good idea. However he is going to send me to a specialist for him to have a talk with me.

Had parked on road this morning as it was early - came out and got a parking ticket. Clear road should be clear 4.30-9.30. Ticket was marked at 9.06 and I walked out at 9.07.
