verbal abuse at work

A neighbour of mine has been verbally abused at work. She has reported the incident. Can anyone tell me the procedure and likely outcome? She works in a care home with children, if that makes any difference. Thankyou, in advance.

If it was a resident, then it should go on that child's care/contact log and the home should deal with the child appropriately. Likewise, if it was a visiting parent, then it should also be recorded. There's not much else to be done, I'm afraid, but these records can be used if the behaviour escalates in the future.
However, if it was another member of staff, your neighbour may have some redress. She's formally reported it (in writing, I hope) and should expect management to take action, probably by speaking with the abuser and giving them a verbal warning. I would suggest you involve your trade union if management seem not to be doing anything further.

Thankyou SaxyJag and vicalncraig, your answers are most appreciated.
It was a male staff member, she has 2 witnesses and they have all done the formalities. Ihad just hoped for her sake he is never allowed back but I guess he will be. She has many more issues (unreported) which don't hold for anything really. It is so sad to see how he has affected her.
