Indeed. I did actually say to the ward sister who was extremely embarrassed and contrite that I was not blaming her and her staff and thanked them profusely for their care they gave me in the short time I was with them although I took up a bed space and wasted their and my time.
See my above post. Mrs retro had often been the 'go between ' for doctor and patient and said that " Doctor has been delayed/your treatment has been cancelled to another day" is a standard B.S. NHS statement that is fallen on many times. It especially works better when they emphasise "delayed by a sudden emergency that cropped up"! :-(

Lol. Funny you say that. Not quite but very Germanic. I think the captain of the Graf Spee was Kapitan Landsdorf or Lindemann. Our name is close or similar. :-)
There are 3 centres of excellence in the UK for this type of operation. St Georges,St Thomas's (or Guys) and the other in Liverpool. I seem to recall Speke being mentioned. Maybe the same hospital you had your experience :-(.
Quite right danny. Not going to shoot myself in the foot as well as suffer a burst aortic aneurism. When does my aneurism become an emergency I ask myself? When it actually bursts and 3 mins later it's Goodnight Vienna.?

No retro St Thomas 's in Liverpool were brilliant. I was stranded 80 miles away in N Wales. I would not have a bad word for anyone in Liverpool hospital. I have even ceased dissing the scousers in general. (well mostly)

I survived a burst aortic aneurism retro. Just. Flat lined twice in 20 minutes, after 20 hrs in A&E locally, and being told that it was a blood clot on my lung by the staff in A&E. Plus had my ribs broken by the application of heart resuscitation whilst on a trolley. That was whilst my aneurism was already ruptured, and I flat lined with zero blood pressure. I was told afterwards that my survival was a 1 in a 100 chance. I was a celebrity when I came round 4 days later with staff from all over the hospital coming to have a look at the miracle bloke. My mate said I was just too stubborn to die. The gits. When I came round I had my 5 brothers sat round the bed and thought I had gone to hell.

Lol retro I keep trying, but I must have used all my luck up in one go. There is more, much more. The collapsed lung with 3 litres of blood trapped in my chest cavity, the stainless steel wedge hammered through my ribcage to drain the blood, (this is after being sent home to recover) the nurse who was going to give me a warfarin injection. I won't bore you with more, but it was a mare. The op in Liverpool was to clean up that mess and it was done through my back in case I need further op through the front on my plumbing. My aneurism has been stable for 3 years now. Fingers crossed. I have had so many ct scans I glow in the dark. Gotta get out and do my bits and pieces, catch you later. Chin up buddy.
