Rash Around Eye
7 Answers
At Easter, I noticed a redness which eventually peeled around the inner corner of my eye. I was away and thought I had missed a bit with the sunscreen. Anyway, the redness which looks like a rash is now under the lower lid on the same eye so it looks like something that is spreading around. I asked for something such as Brolene ointment (which it turns out is no longer available anyway) and the pharmacist said there was nothing she could sell me and I had to go to the doctor. I was at the doctor yesterday about something else and completely forgot to ask her about the rash. I know you are not supposed to use hydrocortisone on the eye area but would a little bit hurt, just for a couple of days so that I can see what happens?

To relieve itchiness and irritation around the eyes, one may apply an over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream for a few days. Itchiness from rashes can also be relieved by applying a cold pack or cucumber slices on the eyes.
Avoid touching or rubbing the area with your hands, as this might intensify symptoms.
Finally, if these measures do not relieve your rash around the eyes after a few days, consult a dermatologist or medical doctor who may evaluate the cause of your symptoms and prescribe appropriate medications.
