This is usually said in response to someone saying they haven't tried/seen/done the thing another person is talking about.

By saying 'You're not missing much', they are indicating that the thing is not worth doing/seeing/trying.

Example:

A - "I went to see the Da Vinci Code on Saturday"
B - "I haven't seen it!"
A - "You're not missing much! Don't bother, it was dreadful!"
