If its only for a temporary project, why not buy some hdf/plywood whatever size you want a paint it with blackboard paint.

The cheapest way to do it is probably to buy a large sheet of hardboard (or similar) and paint it yourself:

Alternatively, of course, you could simply ask local schools and colleges if they could lend you one. (Very few educational establishments use blackboards these days, with whiteboards or computer projection technology being far more common. However many schools/colleges will probably still have blackboards and easels stored away somewhere). Then all you need is someone with a van to move it for you!

...bet nobody else comes up with it. Why don't you buy a piece of bly and paint it?? No? Is it because you have already done that and not so stupid to ask where to buy one from knowing you can make one yourself? Yes I think it is the latter, therefore I would look on local auction websites
