I know it's a morbid question but how long is it likely to take for a human body to decay (buried normally in a coffin). Also are all bodies embalmed?

Not all bodies are embalmed and really it is quite unnecessary in this age with the refrigeration used to store them. It is politely termed as 'hygiene treatment' by a lot of undertakers and is an optional extra.

The decaying process depends on a lot of factors - time of year, temperatures, and soil types all have effects on deterioration / preservation of bodies.
