Hi,
I bought the asus x553S yesterday and it comes with windows 10.
As it is a new product i cannot select to go to a previous installation.
I want windows 7. Is it possible to download it on a brand new computer. People who previously had windows 7 installed and then upgraded to windows 10 and did not like it could revert back to windows 7, but i dont have that option.
I can foresee a lot of problems with what you're proposing:
Firstly, you'd need to get hold of a copy of Windows 7. Microsoft no longer sells it, so you'd need to buy from one of the multitude of online sites that offer it. The problem there is that many such sites are rather dodgy and you might not get what you've paid for. (You'd also need to ensure that you purchased a 64-bit version in order to match your computer's hardware).
Then you'd need to completely wipe the hard drive of your new computer, so that you could try to install Windows 7 onto it. A possible problem there is that Windows 7 might not come with the drivers for all of the hardware on your computer. (You could, of course, save the existing Windows 10 drivers before wiping the hard drive but they might work under Windows 7. Indeed, if the hardware in your computer has been designed specifically with Windows 10 in mind, there might not be any Windows 7 drivers available for it).
Goldfish, I know exactly how you're feeling, as I left it as late as possible to get Windows 10, but to be honest, it's quite good! Mind you, I'd had to get to grips with Windows 8.1, so going from that was a relief!
I get a bit fed up of that Cortana woman popping up all over the place, but once I found out how to shut her up, it was fine! It's also good at findimg things...even better than Google!
Try + get used to it, goldfish, I promise you it isn't that bad!
