Freeview Boxes

I am thinking of getting a freeview box but the signal on my TV is quite bad, if i get freeview will the signal improve slightly or stay the same? im not good with tv's!

freeview boxes require a really good signal or it wil start and stop where is ur aerial situated?it may be worth maybe gettin a aerial installer to repostion it or even get freesat bout 150 dunno much bout wat channels that has tho?

the aerial is on our roof at the back of the house!

A new aerial would be cheaper than Freesat, but a signal booster from the diy store would be even cheaper and may do you. Check on the freeview website for availability in your area.

It can improve it, channel 5 which was a bit snowy before, is now perfect with the set top box,as are all the other channels and with quite an old aerial installation.

i suggest u get ur basic tv picture sorted out first--u need to find the reason for the bad picture in the 1st place--if it is an aerial problem then either u need a new aerial or aerial re-aligned or maybe the cable connection checked at the aerial--if all that is ok and u still have bad pic then it may be due to a weak signal in ur area--do others around u have bad pic--if it is purely a weak signal problem then a booster may solve it as postdog said--when all that has been sorted go ahead and get ur freeview--until then just getting a freeview box probably wont make any diff and u would be wasting ur money

Ask a neigbour (if you have one close by) who has freeview/freesat
See what their reception is like
Digital TV is a bit 'all-or-nothing'
I can now get C5 downstairs on freeview - was never a problem upatairs, however quite often get sever disruption of signal on some channels. I live approx 10 miles from Sandy Heath transmitter - not a hill in site

I had difficult reception especially BBC2 which was almost always snowy. Then last year I got a professional ariel company to put in a new ariel with good calble and a masthead amplifier.

The resulting picture is now pinpoint sharp and stable so much so that I can even get one of the local regional television companies (Oxford) even though I'm 20 miles outside of their service area and below a rise -not that there's much to watch on it!

Hi my tv reception has always been bad then I stuck a pear of scissors in the back (using them as an ariel) and the picture is crystal clear!
