I have a ford fiesta atuo 1.1 and the engine cits out after it has run ok for an hour any ideas?

I have a ford fiesta auto petrol 1.1 and the engine cuts out after it has run ok for an hour then won't start for fifteens mins then runs for a while and cuts out again any ideas?

sounds like an ignition coil fault to me, what year is your car?
i had rover 214 that did the same run for so long then cut out 10/15 mins later run again, it was the cat on the exhaust that was no good

Could be that the fuel tank vent is blocked, this allows air in/out of the tank to stop the build up of pressure/vacuum. Obviously as the engine uses fuel out of the tank then air must enter to keep the pressure the same as the atmosphere, if the vent is blocked a vacuum can build up which stops fuel to leave the tank and the engine will stop. You can easily check this out by driving with the filler cap loose for some time and see if the problem goes away.
