If the treatment is NHS, the DLA stops after twenty-eight days in hospital. Any shorter periods within twenty-eight days of each other count as one spell and the days are added together. The entitlement continues but it is not payable.

Corbyloon, does he get a much reduced payment? Pocket money, I suppose.
His DLA payments will stop completely, they will not be reduced.
If he receives Income Support and gets a Severe Disability Premium, the premium will end when the DLA stops being paid but the rest remains in payment for up to fifty-two weeks. Housing Benefit remains payable for up to fifty-two weeks as long as the claimant intends to return home.
