I think that IQ tests only prove one thing - you can be good or bad at passing IQ tests, they are no indiciation of actual broad everyday intelligence - merely a specific kind of intelligence.

It is perfectly possible to be academically educated to a high level, and simultaneously have absolutely no grasp of reality and the consequences of actions.

George W Bush - whose academic achievements eclipse those of Al Gore is a living example of this theory being proved.

I have an exceedingly healthy IQ (185-190) but no common sense and a memory live the proverbial sieve. I am also Bipolar/Manic Depressive and can be a tad odd.

IQ proves nothing.

Can we not give old Guinea Pig hair a gun in the hope that he will actually shoot himself with it? A real shoot-out would be fun to watch.

As I say - I believe it would only demonstrate which of these two gentleman has more experience in taking IQ tests.

As we veteran AB'ers know, it is perfectly possible to be 'intelligent' in terms of being competent to use a PC and post on this site, and still evidence a breath taking ignorance of any of the issues that affect the world at the moment.

the fact that someone does not agree with the "correct" view is not in anyway related to intelligence. I find the breathtaking arrogance of people like AH and co quite disturbing when they are referring to an elected leader of the US and insulting to the many millions who voted for him.

I'm not going to suggest that referring to Mr Trump as 'an elected leader of the US' when he is clearly nothing of the sort demonstrates the kind of ignorance to which I refer - I merely put the idea out there for consideration.

I stand corrected - and offer my apologies.

Having said that - I fail to see why you take issue with my observation.

Being elected president offers no presumption of intelligence, and criticism of a president is no slur on the electors who voted for him.

If any criticism of an elected leader lead to the huff being taken by his or her supporters, the democratic system would collapse over night!

I couldn't agree more. Thirty years ago I applied for a free MENSA test. It came back that I had an IQ of 159, but to qualify as a member I had to sit a controlled test at a cost of £60. I thought, "I'm not that stupid!"

I think you'll find that the voters made their own mind up about the wisdom of their choice all on their own, without the criticism of 'liberal "correct" thinkers' - when he marched their armed forces into an unwinnable conflict!
