I've been prescribed these tablets today due to an upper respiratory infection & told to take 8 tablets (40mg) for five days. I have read the information leaflet. It says to take the tablets, preferably in the morning after breakfast but my question is, do I take the 8 all in one dose or spread over the day. The leaflet isn't clear on that. It also says I should carry a card whilst taking them but wasn't given one from the pharmacist. Thanks for any replies

If the instructions don't say to stagger the medication , tablets to be taken at one time.

Doesn't it say on the dispensing label ?
Hi I take Prednisolone quite a lot and sometimes the doc will say take them several time a day and another doc will say take all first thing in morning which I tend to do. I have wondered about the card as well but I think its for people who are on them long term because you should not just stop taking them if you have been on them for a while.
Initial dosage is usually 5mg to 60mg once a day depending on who and why.

Maybe a quick call to either prescriber or pharmacy would reassure you.

It says on the dispensing label "Take EIGHT tablets (40mg) DAILY for five days". The leaflet isn't clear whether to take these all at once or spread across the day. I have, since my OP rung the pharmacy & been told to take the daily dose in one go. Just seemed a lot of pills to swallow all at once.
My father has had this drug for the same reason as yourself....and is instructed to take all at the same time, both by his GP and pharmacist.
LOL they are only tiddlers , taste disgusting though I always have a spoonful of sugar ready :)
In that case why don't they have just a single tablet @320 mg, unless it would be too big to swallow?
Hope you feel better soon. The medication usually 'works' quite quickly.
JD - 8x5 = 40 mg

Anne's right it's a fast and efficient worker is pred.
Correct, Mamy. I misread it as 8 x 40 mg.

Made me smile with the 320mg comment. I will have a large glass of water ready to swallow them. Thanks for the tip too saying they don't taste nice. Hoping they will help me although I don't feel ill...just have this cough, mainly in the morning but it's been there for several weeks & doctor could hear some wheezy noises when he listened to my chest & back this morning. I appreciate your posts. Thank you
Were you prescribed antibiotics ? Thanks for BA. :-)
I had to take them all together
