Yorkshire Tea & David Coverdale
I have been to several Whitesnake concerts and noticed that there seems to be a tradition where fans throw boxes of Yorkshire Tea up on stage for David Coverdale.- he appears to be very grateful for it. Does anyone know how and why this started?

Well David was born in Saltburn-by-the-Sea (which is in North Yorkshire or East Cleveland - depending on your point of view !). As for the tea angle, well I found the following quote from him on the Net -
'Surpisingly, I record very early in the day...sometimes 7am...( in earlier times I would only record after midnight, for some bizarre reason )...Before that I do 20 minutes of vocal exercises to open my chest, sinus & throat & prepare my vocal cords for the forthcoming onslaught...( if it's a hard rocker...)...The exercises also help create my tone...I have room temp bottled water...& a cup of warm Yorkshire tea nearby...(extreme temperatures are not good for the cords )...The water to stay hydrated, the tea...well...because I'm British & I like it.'
I'm sure that those who are throwing the tea on stage are a mixture of loyal fans and proud Yorkies reminding David of his roots !
