Hi all, hope someone here can give me some advice. We are based in Scotland and wanting to open a burger van. Do we get the van first or the pitch? How do we go about it, would really appreciate some help, thanks

Not sure about Scotland but you have to apply for a license in England.

yes I know that's the case here too but was needing to know van, pitch or licence first and how to go about getting these, cheers
Think you have to apply to the council.

Probably best to have the pitch planned first - you'll probably need it for the planning application.
No point in having a pitch if you have no van.
If you have a van you can always pick up charity events, car boot sales etc.
Ideally you'd get a pitch just as you got your van on line.

I understand competition can be quite fierce for good pitches and some people will resort to violence to protect those they consider theirs.

Good luck.
When you get the license you can use various pitches. Get the van, the license, your food hygiene certs.
