Should have read the 'bumf' that came with it. But, presumably, they have a very low limit for security reasons. (when used in contactless mode)

Yes, the most that can be lost in one transaction is £30.
Question Author
Right, that makes sense. Is it £30 a day, do you think?
No. £30 per transaction. You can use the card many times a day
Question Author
You could nick a few quid if you were fortunate enough to find one then. Right, I have to pop out. ;-)
If you make several transactions in quick succession, you will have to enter the PIN
I thought at the beginning contactless could only be used three times a day and any other transactions you'd have to use your pin. Not so as I spent an afternoon in a pub using my (his) card numerous times.
Obviously I don't drink fast enough!!!
Question Author
Did you ask, ummmm?
Ask what?
No three transaction a day limit now, ummmm.

They are very good though. Quick and no wear and tear. I was always wearing the chip & pin variety out. Too heavy handed. I suspect.
Question Author
Ask your OH before you took his card out for a drink.
I thought they were pushed to everyone to reduce security and potentially cause stress and worry for the customer. I see no convincing reason for them to exist and no excuse for sending them out as default.
I'm not surprised at all by your viewpoint, AOG.
It's safer than losing your wallet full of cash, which you have no hope of getting back.
never once in hundreds of uses have i had to enter my pin number?
Not as safe as having a normal card without the security flaw.
btw always carry your lost credit / debit card phone number on your mobile then if you loose it contact them immediately
Of course Svejk. If I have the card it's because he's given it to me. I'm not a shopaholic and I'm not carefree with money plus my wages get paid into his bank account.
Svejk, never read the bumf on anything unless disaster strikes and then only if you can't get someone else to fix it.
