My take on it is that you just hve so much to remember/learn that the unimportant things (like remembering to wear two of the same shoes) just falls out for while, so that the super improtant things like making sure a baby doesn't starve etc can get done.
Lack of sleep and conversations about anything other than sick or poo also contribute. It goes away after a short while

In my experience, it was quite a while before I reckoned I was back to normal.
During pregnancy I had that dozy, slightly detached feeling about things...not necessarily unpleasant but sometimes annoying for others. Mostly I had it at the start, I think, then it went away nearer to the birth.
After the birth was a total muddle for weeks ...but then so it is for everyone, especially for the first baby .
Overall I'd say it was about 8 or 9 months after the birth until I was feeling almost back to my pre-pregnant self.
Congratulations and try not to worry about it.
By the way, I have always struggled to remember where I have parked my car....it's the hardest part of shopping as far as I'm concerned.

I haven't quite done that yet, Ummm, but only because the supermarket is too far away from my house to walk there.
I try to park in the same place every time I go now so that I have a chance of finding it.
And I cannot tell you how grateful I am for the remote car key things now that flash your lights when you press them...a godsend!
I won't go into my lack of any sense of direction ......
