I hope the Commons Select Committee gets to the bottom of this, especially
why Green took out huge sums of money in the form of dividends, at the same time as a massive black hole was appearing in the Pension Scheme.

Bertie........The difficulty is that this new pension scheme collapse will put enormous strain on the Pension Protection Fund, especially if the Tata Steel Scheme has to be rescued as well.

You don't get to Sir Phillip Green's level of success without knowing exactly what you are doing.

If he is found to be responsible in the eyes of the law for this disaster, I will be seriously surprised.

The Commons Select Committee may well get to the bottom of it (i.e. why Mr Green paid out the company’s entire profits for five years and some more besides in the form of dividends, principally to his wife) but I doubt it. But even if they do, nothing will come of it. I don’t even know why they have involved themselves. Parliamentary committees were set up to enquire into the conduct of government departments. The Committees have no powers in such matters other than making politicians feel good. The matter should be investigated by the police.
