The Swiss idea may sound nutty, but at least it is trying to pre-empt a problem and create a solution.
15 million people with no income and nothing to spend, will devastate our economy. Radical ideas on spreading wealth will need to happen, one way or another.

TTT,
Wealth will be created without the few than 10 million. The companies will be making massive savings and therefore vastly increased profits. Governments around the world will need some of that money to maintain the fabric of society. There will be no point in Amazon getting super efficient if there is no one able to buy their goods.
There are millions of jobs not being done now, because people are too busy to volunteer. Some payment based on a persons community altruism could make us happier and more functioning as a society.
Somehow, we have to workout what to do with an unwanted workforce.

Talbot...because my link comes from the BBC and isn't the same as the SKY link. Can't we have a mix of mediums here ?
The BBC is my Home Page and I get the majority of my news-based knowledge from it. I don't have access to the DM, nor would want to, and I don't like SKY.
Can't see what is wrong with what I have done ?

It's a nice idea as long as all citizens turn up when drafted for their period of employment and the pre-training. All has to take their turn to contribute to society, if able. And differentials must still exist to reward those who contributed most. It'd basically be a decent welfare safety net plus incentives. Needs perfect control of migration though. And accurate calculation as to how much wealth is slopping around each year to be shared. Sounds one heck of a control task.
