I guess no surprises here.

Why is it most Brexiters are more than happy to accept the result of a poll but the Bremainers wont stop until they get their way regardless of a vote?

What has happened to democracy?

Will we have to vote until we give the 'correct' answer?

ok let's debate the issue mikey, we know that more MPs are in favour of staying in the EU than leaving, so if we vote out do you think that parliament should ignore the will of the people just because they can technically?
TTT....MPs are free to vote for whatever they think is right.

Just like the capital punishment debate, they will vote with their consciences, in the way they always do. Love it or hate it, that is the way our Parliamentary system works.
so the referendum is pointless then?

This is not like the capital punishment debate, this is a referendum, yes I understand it's not binding but what is the point if they'll not act on it?
You're developing a persecution complex, mikey.
Stop 'dishing it out' if you can't take it.
Indeed our poor system allows them to ignore the democratic will of the people, but in this case there is an obvious alternative come the next General Election. They dismiss the public's choice at their own peril. And maybe as the herald of massive change in the system ?
//This Referendum is only consultative. //

Unless the Remainians prevail............then the result is set in stone.
OG....as UKIP are the only Party that actually wants to leave the EU, what choice will people have when it comes to the General Election in May 2020 ?

We could, I suppose, all vote for UKIP, but its unlikely that they will get enough MPs to form a Government.

So, unless the Brexit vote is huge and overwhelming, I can't see a future Tory or Labour administration bringing in all the dozens of bits of new legislation that is going to be required for Britain to leave the EU.

so again, why are we bothering mikey? I know the left hate democracy but really do you condone ignoring the will of the people?
If the people are thwarted/ignored a UKIP government seems a real possibility. It would gain support from both left & right. (Maybe even from some remainers who feel supporting democracy is more important than avoiding the change.)
"We could, I suppose, all vote for UKIP, but its unlikely that they will get enough MPs to form a Government. "

If we all did they could not fail to do so, Mikey !! In fact, they'd get 650 seats!

I think even Mr Cameron has decreed that if the Brexiters prevail then that will of the people will be transformed into the UK leaving. (Mind you, I think what he said was "whatever the will of the people it will be transformed etc. etc.). This was when he thought there was not a cat in hell's chance of a Leave vote.

A constitutional crisis would certainly ensue if the vote was ignored. In short, there would be ructions. Parliament's job, in the event of a Leave vote, would be to disentangle ourselves from the unholy mess that is the EU asap. That's what they are paid for and that's what they must do. Either that or step aside and let somebody else do it.
