diagnosed diabetic 2 years ago.lastweek the first timehad hypo this week each day experienced them .Ate chocolate and ok now but I am worried why I should start with them after all this time and what to do .also on warfarin.are you there squad
Well, you need to keep on with Warfarin.
Your hypos occur mid morning, which I presume is about 2 hours after your breakfast.
I would suggest that you have 2 choices, firstly to increase your carbohydrate at breakfast (toast or whatever you have) OR decrease reduce the morning humulin to 36 units.
I agree with Sqad, but as a type 1 diabetic I would recommend you don't treat your hypos with chocolate. It only works if it is a quick fix. Chocolate has been known (this comes from my diabetes team and a few diabetics that I've met over the years) to rise you up and then dump you like a stone and you hypo all over again.
Good luck
thanks queen what would you suggest ---drink lucozade -just eat something----- mars bar I am waiting this morning to hear from nurse------- squad --I have Weetabix and toast every m0rning----
As a type 1 I usually can fend off a hypo with 5-6 Glucose tablets and around 150ml of lucozade. Even something like a small sandwich or something similar. Good luck and let us know how you get on with your nurse :)
Thanks for the feedback..........i would have thought reducing the morning dose as Humulin is short acting........however.....do what the nurse suggests.
