And now BHS. All major high street retailers who have folded in less than a decade. I can't recall any other time (in my lifetime) when so many big brands have gone under.
I'm actually on my way to Debenhams as I write this (I managed to destroy a roasting pan last week).
I'd be surprised to see Debenhams go, but not surprised at W.H.Smith, a shop that never fails to put me in a bad mood, no matter how short my visit is.
Pedantic point:
C & A didn't fold. The company simply withdrew from the UK market. They've still got stores across most of Europe (including Russia), as well as in Brazil. Mexico and China.

Firms looking dodgy at the moment? My list would include:
HMV
Mothercare
W H Smith
Debenhams
Carpetright
Little Chef
Clarks Shoes
Cant see Smiths going either, there tends to be a steady stream fir items that have a rwasonable markup.
My guess is we will see some suoermarkets fold or withdraw from tge uk market. Margind are very thin in tgat sector only takes a couple if errirs and you are shafted.
MFI changed into a company that is extremely successful, Howdens Joinery Ltd. Product and company ethos was transformed in the 90s and all the old retail sheds were vacated for style, quality and delivery focused trade outlets.
