I have a Google Nexus 7 tablet. I've just purchased a Samsung galaxy Tab S2. As it's also android I assume I'll need a Google mail account...which I do. Will I need to re- download any Google play store apps? Or will they be transferred automatically. Forgive me if this is a silly question.

if you want them on the new device you;ll have to download them to that device. You won't have to pay again tho
Just log in to your Tab S2 with the same GMail account as the Nexus. The apps won't download automatically because (a) they may not be compatible and (b) you may not want them. It is better to have control, don't you think?
