I am lookng at the reference to "monkey with hand in bottle" I'm new here so please make allowances. . I have read the threads, but they are not as I remember the quotation. It's the quotation I am seeking. My recollections are that the monkey was trapped, possibly due to greed or hunger or just opportunity.. And the principle as I recall was that if you don't let go to that which is holding you back you may be stuck there forever. Can anyone refer me to the quotation.
Thanks in advance

I don't know that there is any one quote, but you'll find some info here. Hope this wasn't redundant.
Hi does this help?
In some parts of the world, people employ an ingenious method to catch monkeys. A large heavy jar, with an opening just big enough for the monkey to squeeze a hand in, is baited with a banana. The monkey slips its hand into the bottle and grabs the banana. Then, holding tightly to the banana, it is unable to remove its hand from the jar. It never occurs to the monkey to let go of the banana, so it remains in the trap.
