Not that anyone seems to take any notice.

Rule 243
DO NOT stop or park: opposite or within 10 metres (32 feet) of a junction, except in an authorised parking space
Yes, is the short answer. There are exceptions however.

It's also illegal to park more than 15 yards from the road on public land. Once again there are exceptions.
A rule is not the law, it is advisory and only ever enforced if there is another element to the situation that does attract a penalty
I'm with hc....legality doesn't come into it.
Several people where I live have been given FPNs for this. It is sheer selfishness. I have seen ambulances struggle to get round corners because of it. I have also had a dent in the wing of one of my cars, due to someone parking on a corner and a van taking the corner too wide. It seems to me that because something isn't illegal, people do what they like. It's just basic common sense at the end of the day.

///Many of the rules in the Code are legal requirements, and if you disobey these rules you are committing a criminal offence.
Although failure to comply with the other rules of the Code will not, in itself, cause a person to be prosecuted, The Highway Code may be used in evidence in any court proceedings under Traffic Acts to establish liability///
